New eye-witness statement
Another eye-witness has come forward and stated that they saw lumps of meat being placed around the beach outside the Riu Funana hotel. The witness has identified not only the car but the person. In the morning he found two dead dogs and a dead cat on the beach. This is really helpful evidence for the police, but unfortunately the person in question is not likely to make a statement since they fear for their job if they speak out.

ReplyDeleteWould some sort of reward not be in this case appropriate I wonder..? May I suggest that it could be done in a confidential and authorised manner at the request of the Police in Sal. This would raise awareness not only to the local Capeverdians but also promote the Good Wefare of looking after the dogs from Sal...? Keep up the good work Jacquie. Would Peta not be able to sort out some sort of marketing / promotion of good practice with the animal sanctury on Sal..? .......Just a thought. I am following this story with great interest and if you need any help or support from the UK end then please let us know

Ps have you thought of contacting Watchdog or something similar to get an official representative from Rui chain to address your concerns and questions on the grounds of public health & Safety ?

ReplyDeleteHi Pam & mescaline, well it now seems that there is sufficient evidence without the need for this eye-witness to have to make a formal statement. If it comes to it I believe he can swear his testimony in front of a lawyer and not be named in court (if it ever comes to that..) Unfortunately Peta have answered that they have too many cases like this to be able to offer any direct assistance to us here on Sal. A guest at the hotel has contacted Watchdog. Thanks for your comments.
ReplyDeleteThat's great news on the prosecution pending front at least Rasher's horrific plight will hopefully lead to a new era in Sal. He really was a super special member of the team. I really do feel that UK Watchdog should follow up with those parties concerned and get a definit answer to the H & S element of the beaches in Sal especially around the 2 Rui Hotels.
